Traditional vs Western Reiki
Traditional Reiki, originating from Japan, is based on the teachings of Mikao Usui and emphasizes a spiritual and healing journey that incorporates the natural flow of energy through the practitioner’s hands. It often includes practices such as meditation and a focus on self-healing, allowing for deeper spiritual connection and personal growth.
In contrast, Western Reiki, popularized in the West during the late 20th century, tends to adopt a more structured approach, often incorporating techniques adapted for pragmatic use in healing sessions. This includes the use of various symbols (specific to lineage), a more standardized method of attunements, and an emphasis on practical applications in a therapeutic context, making it accessible for a wider audience. While both forms share the core principle of channeling energy for healing, their methodologies and philosophical underpinnings can differ significantly.
